Exploring Peer Support in Ambulatory Care - Lessons from the Field

Thursday, January 24, 2019 | 12:00 p.m. – 01:00 p.m. Eastern Time

PCPCC presented a virtual panel discussion to learn valuable lessons from various peer support programs in healthcare and gain insights from patient, family, clinician, and program coordinators in the field. By utilizing known resources, expertise, values, skills, perspectives, and proficiencies, peer support can help improve ambulatory care when one experienced individual facilitates the development of another. By enhancing patient knowledge and care coordination, peer support programs also help minimize adverse patient occurrences and maximize quality of care.

During this webinar, the speakers provided practical information about peer support and its impact on the health care team through their personal and professional stories. They also discussed peer support to produce better outcomes for participating individuals and the organization.
