Ashraf Affan

Dr. Affan is an entrepreneurial, agile transformation innovator disrupting healthcare for the last 27 years. He is the president and founder of Angel Kids Pediatrics with extensive experience in healthcare transformation and clinical optimization. As a leading expert in digital health implementation, change enablement and healthcare operational excellence in Florida, he has developed the largest pediatric practice in Northeast Florida.

Dr. Affan is also the president and founder of a comprehensive online resource assisting breastfeeding mothers nationwide in growing healthy babies. Dr. Affan completed his pediatric residency at the Nassau University Medical Center in New York, where he received the Beth Seaton award for Resident of the year in 2001 and served as the Chief Resident in 2002.

Dr. Affan has worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization and other international nonprofit agencies on projects aimed at improving the health and well-being of children around the globe. He has led multiple initiatives in support of breastfeeding-awareness campaigns.

As an entrepreneur and healthcare disruptor, Dr. Affan founded US BEST MEDICAL to create and provide a strategic portfolio of the best supply-chain solutions and healthcare consulting services optimizing operational, financial, and clinical efficiencies for patients, providers, and payers.

On behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Dr. Affan was invited to join the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI) National Faculty. TCPI is the largest quality-improvement initiative in the history of the U.S. The TCPI is designed to help clinicians achieve large-scale health transformation. The initiative is designed to support more than 140,000 clinician practices in sharing, adapting and further developing their comprehensive quality-improvement strategies. The national faculty have a critical role in the TCPI program. The faculty are the models of transformation and the voice of the TCPI Change Package. Faculty share their own transformation experiences with the TCPI community, including with Quality Improvement Advisors and enrolled practices to demonstrate that transformation is possible and that it improves how we deliver care. Some of the roles that faculty play in the program include: participating as speakers and panelists in in-person meetings (e.g., National Expert Panel, Quality Conference), TCPI pacing events, and other events; sharing the experience with Quality Improvement Activities (QIAs) and enrolled practices through PTN-led events; Consulting Practice Transformation Networks (PTNs); and supporting Alliance Networks (SANs) on transformation challenges.

Dr. Affan serves on the board of multiple prestigious healthcare entities. He is on the Florida physician advisory board of Sunshine/Centene and also serves on the board of Clinical Alliance Network and the Healthy Mother Healthy Babies Coalition of Jacksonville.
