Michigan continues to lead nation in patient-centered health care, thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Patient-Centered Medical Home program

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is designating 1,551 primary care practices across Michigan as “patient-centered medical homes,” a nine percent increase over the number of practices designated in 2014. Located in 78 Michigan counties and including more than 4,340 individual physicians, the number of designated practices make the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan-led program the largest of its kind in the United States for the seventh consecutive year. 

Minnesota’s Medicaid reform initiative saves $61.5 million in 2nd year

The Minnesota Department of Human Services’ innovative Medicaid reform initiative, the Integrated Health Partnerships (IHP), delivered a dramatic $61.5 million in savings in 2014, benefiting taxpayers while continuing to improve health care for low-income people.

On Friday, Commissioner Lucinda Jesson announced plans to extend the IHP and comparable value-based reforms to half of all Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare enrollees – about 500,000 people – by the end of 2018.

Objective  To determine whether FFS beneficiaries aligned with Pioneer ACOs had smaller increases in spending and utilization than other FFS beneficiaries while retaining similar levels of care satisfaction in the first 2 years of the Pioneer ACO Model.
