This webinar will explore the relationship between specialists and primary care physicians in medical neighborhoods and accountable care organizations (ACO). Hosts will discuss best practices for employer models, care coordination, patient experience and quality measures. Hosts will address key questions including:
  • How are accountable care models supported by employers?
  • What are best practices for coordinating patient referrals?
  • What role does the patient play and how will it change their experience?
  • Which quality metrics should be in place to enforce accountability? 

Speaker Bios

Kyu Rhee, MD, MPP serves as the Vice President of Integrated Health Services at IBM, where he directs global responsibilities for health, safety, medical, and health benefits design and strategy services. Prior to joining IBM, Dr. Rhee was Chief Public Health Officer at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) where he led numerous national initiatives related to prevention, quality, and public health. He also served as the Director of the Office of Innovation and Program Coordination at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and led numerous initiatives related to health disparities, innovation, and partnerships. Prior to his federal government service, he worked in community healthcare settings as the Chief Medical Officer of Baltimore Medical System. In addition, Dr. Rhee served five years as a National Health Service Corps Scholar and Medical Director at Upper Cardozo Health Center, the largest community health center in Washington, DC.
 
Robert Fortini, PNP, is the Chief Clinical Officer for Bon Secours Medical Group in Richmond Virginia. He is responsible for facilitating Provider adoption of electronic medical records, coordinating clinical transformation to a medical home care delivery model, and facilitating participation in available pay-for-performance initiatives. Prior to Bon Secours, Dr. Fortini served as the Chief Medical Affairs Officer at Queens Long Island Medical Group engaged in quality and HIT adoption. He successfully applied for the first Level 3 NCQA recognized PCMH in New York State. Mr. Fortini has 30 years of experience in healthcare. He is a graduate of Fordham University and The State University of New York College of Health Professions at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY
 
Carol Henwood, DO, FACOFP is a board-certified family physician in private practice at Stowe Family Practice Clinic in Stowe, Pennsylvania and staff physician at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, where she formerly served as chair of the Family Practice Department and coordinator of the Family Practice Residency Coordinator. Dr. Henwood is a member of the American Osteopathic Association’s (AOA) Council on Women’s Health Issues and is a trustee of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association (POMA) District 10. She previously chaired POMA’s practice Management Committee and the Women’s Health Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the Board and Past President of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society. Dr. Henwood also chairs the Board Task Force on Medical Home & Accountable Care Organizations, is a member of the Executive Conclave of Fellows and of the Executive Conclave of Fellows, and is a trainer for the ACOFP Center for Excellence in Procedural Medicine.
