As a follow-up to the PCPCC webinar, "Transforming Clinical Practice by Supporting Patient and Family Decision Making," PCPCC Executive Members are invited to the kick-off session of "Conversation with the Experts."

During this session, Executive Members will have the opportunity to discuss the PCPCC webinar topic and ask the presenters questions in an interactive setting. Webinar presenters will also be able to answer questions not addressed during the live webinar due to time restrictions, such as questions related to challenges in implementing initiatives in a physician organization related to patient and family-engagement and the types of enablers that allow patients and clinicians to work together on “the same page.”

In case you missed it, PCPCC's March webinar highlighted the work of leading organizations and their efforts to engage patients and families in making smart decisions about their health care. The speakers also discussed important resources that help practices with patient and family engagement. You can watch the webinar recording on the PCPCC website.

Beverley H. Johnson

President & CEO, Institute for Patient and Family-Centered Care

Beverley H. Johnson serves as the President and CEO of the Institute for Patient and Family-Centered Care and has over 25 years of experience in organizational development and management. She has worked as a health professional providing direct care in hospitals, managing a hospital unit, and teaching. She has served as a trustee of a hospital, national health care organization, and a school board. In these trustee roles, she has chaired and served on strategic planning committees and had fiduciary responsibility for nonprofit organizations. She has provided technical assistance and consultation to over 250 hospitals across the United States and Canada. She has published widely on patient- and family-centered issues and strategies. read more

Daniel Wolfson

Executive Vice President and COO, ABIM Foundation

Daniel B. Wolfson is Executive Vice President and COO of the ABIM Foundation. Previously, Mr. Wolfson served for nearly two decades as the founding president and CEO of the Alliance of Community Health Plans (formerly The HMO Group), the nation’s leading association of not-for-profit and provider-sponsored health plans. During his tenure, Mr. Wolfson earned national recognition for spearheading the development of the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS™), convening the RxHealthValue coalition to provide independent information on the pharmaceutical industry, and co-sponsoring with the American College of Physicians the journal Effective Clinical Practice. read more

Wendy Nickel, MPH

Director, Center for Patient Partnership in Healthcare, American College of Physicians

Wendy Nickel is the Director of the American College of Physician’s newly formed Center for Patient Partnership in Healthcare (CPPH). The CPPH was established to support partnerships among clinicians, patients and their families through shared decision making, engagement and education. Wendy has over 20 years of experience in healthcare, focused on improving quality, safety and the experience of care. She has directed numerous hospital improvement initiatives, patient engagement and advocacy programs and physician communication strategies. read more
