Purpose of Course

This webinar is established for primary care providers and other health care providers, to assist them in learning how to incorporate genetic thinking into their everyday practice. Information will be provided on what the role of the primary care provider is in the provision of genetic medicine, and case studies will be presented to provide further examples of the importance of genetics in a primary care setting.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, attendees should be able to:

  1. Differentiate between diagnostic and screening genetic tests and their appropriate use in pediatrics
  2. Describe several types of diagnostic genetic testing and their limits and applications
  3. Demonstrate how to access current information and resources for genetic testing
