PCPCC Webinar: Measuring Primary Care Investment: Policy and Operational Issues

PCPCC

Wednesday Jun 27, 2018 12:00 pm EDT
United States

The panelists on this upcoming webinar are thought leaders in work to advance the measurement of primary care spending – at the state, federal and international level.

Increasing our utilization of primary care will lead to lower costs, higher patient satisfaction, fewer hospitalizations and emergency department visits, and lower mortality. Unfortunately, it is difficult to measure actual primary care spend, which makes it difficult to quantify primary care investment and clearly demonstrate these positive associated outcomes.

The panelists will describe recent work including:

  • Ongoing efforts to define and measure primary care – including important initiatives at the state and international level
  • State-level collaborations to generate a common primary care measure set and a possible code set for measuring primary care spending using claims data
  • Establishing a goal for investment in primary health care spending both internationally and in the United States
