Job Description

The Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) seeks a highly organized, self-motivated program associate to work full-time in our Washington, DC office. The successful applicant will be passionate about improving the healthcare system. The Program Associate will mainly provide program, communications and management support for two grant-funded projects for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Initiative (PCORI) and the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPi). This position is funded in part by an 18-month grant.

PCPCC Background: Founded in 2006, the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) is a not-for-profit multi-stakeholder membership organization dedicated to advancing an effective and efficient health system built on a strong foundation of primary care and the patient-centered medical home. Representing a broad group of public and private organizations – including payers, healthcare clinicians and other providers, leading corporations and patient and consumer advocacy groups – the PCPCC’s mission is to unify and engage diverse stakeholders in promoting policies and sharing best practices that support the growth of high-performing primary care to achieve the “Quadruple Aim”: better care, better health, lower costs, and greater joy for clinicians and staff in delivery of care.

Job Summary 

The Program Associate will primarily be responsible for the management of the PCORI Eugene Washington Engagement grant recently awarded to the PCPCC. The goal of the grant is to help build PCPCC’s network and dissemination infrastructure to promote high impact Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) and Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) to accelerate clinical practice and policy change. The Program Associate will also work with the team on the TCPi’s Support & Alignment Network (SAN) for Patients, Caregivers & Community Engagement to provide technical assistance to participating practices and networks across the U.S. to achieve TCPI’s phases of transformation and associated milestones. As this position is contingent on the grants, the position will work closely with the President & CEO to find grant opportunities that support PCPCC’s vision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

PCORI (60%)

  • Support project implementation, communication, and strategy for the PCORI project
  • Work with the Associate Director of Communications and Clinical Advisor to convene members of a PCPCC-PCORI Advisory Council
  • With this Advisory Council, create a framework for reviewing PCOR/CER results and for identifying studies of greatest interest to PCPCC’s various audiences
  • Along with the Associate Director of Communications and Clinical Advisor, develop a plan for operationalizing the review of studies on an ongoing basis within the aforementioned framework
  • Along with PCPCC’s Web Designer and Associate Director of Communications, facilitate building of PCPCC website infrastructure and systems for routinely disseminating PCOR and CER results
  • In consultation with PCOR Translation Center, identify 3-4 tools that translate PCORI-funded research results to practice
  • Develop a plan to pilot test the dissemination strategy, including identifying an initial set of PCOR/CER study results relevant to PCPCC stakeholders
  • Support speakers and presenters at PCORI in-person meetings or webinars
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Communications to develop written content around conferences, workgroups (e.g. PCORI Advisory Council), and events
  • Submit interim reports and final reports as required by the grant

TCPi SAN (20%)

  • Manage administrative and operational tasks for the TCPI grant
  • Assist the team in working with consultants to identify best practices in patient/family caregiver partnerships and community partnerships
  • Support the Project Director and the Program Manager in maintaining program budgets and reports

General Grant Administration (20%)

  • Provide administrative and technical guidance and support to the team seeking outside funding for research, public service, and special sponsored institutional projects
  • Work with team on grant writing and prepare proposals and grant applications
  • Research and interpret relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards
  • Perform miscellaneous grants-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in public health, health communications, communications or related field a plus
  • 2-5 years of experience of planning or management, including project experience
  • Experience working with federal programs and grants management a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic, mission-driven individual excited about elevating primary care
  • Project management and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet competing deadlines
  • Hands on experience with website content management systems like WordPress or Drupal and other social media
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office platform (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint);

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $50,000 to $60,000 annually and is funded in part by an 18-month grant. PCPCC offers a competitive compensation package, including a competitive base salary as well as health, retirement, and vacation benefits. The position reports to the President & CEO.
