PCC's Policy Director Speaks at Conference on Primary Care Invesement in States

On Feb. 23, Larry McNeely, PCC's Director of Policy, spoke on a panel at a conference titled The Case for Increasing Our Investment in High Quality Primary Care, sponsored by the New Jersey Healthcare Quality Institute. The event was about how investing more in comprehensive, coordinated primary care and ensuring that everyone has access to it will improve our health and quality of life.

The conference, co-hosted by the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP), featured Chris Koller, President of the Milbank Memorial Fund and Co-Author of NASEM’s Implementing High-Quality Primary Care report as keynote speaker. McNeely was on one of two panels of experts familiar with states already measuring, reporting, and setting targets to increase investment in primary care and how that may be accomplished through primary care payment transformation.

Panelists:

  • Larry McNeely II, MPA, Director of Policy, Primary Care Collaborative, with Kate Harris, Chief Deputy Commissioner, Life & Health Policy, Colorado Division of Insurance
  • Steven Peskin, MD, MBA, MACP, EMD, Pop Health & Transform Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, with Sean Cavanaugh, Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Policy Officer, Aledade, Inc.

In the video below (which is of the entire conference), McNeely's panel on how states are reporting on primary care investment and achieving those benchmarks starts at 41:27.
