Meds adherence is key to better treatment for diabetes and hypertension, billions in savings

CVS Health Research Institute shows potential for $38 million to $63 million saved per 100,000 health plan members

A new study published in The American Journal of Managed Care reviewed de-identified medical and pharmacy claims data of more than 1.2 million patients one or more of the most expensive chronic diseases: high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. It found that medication adherence resources for those patients holds big opportunities for cost-savings.
