The Nebraska Medical Center, Methodist Health System and Humana Announce Accountable Care Agreement for 2015

A new Accountable Care partnership is expected to drive quality health care outcomes for Medicare Advantage members in the greater Omaha area. Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) and the Nebraska Health Network, an integrated health care delivery organization co-owned by Methodist Health System, The Nebraska Medical Center and their affiliated physicians, announced the partnership will begin January 1, 2015.

The Nebraska Health Network was established in February 2010 by Methodist Health System, The Nebraska Medical Center and their affiliated physicians, resulting in the most comprehensive network of primary care providers, specialty physicians and hospitals in Nebraska. Together, the two health systems have more than 1,200 providers, over 300 primary care physicians and six acute care hospitals in the greater Omaha area.

The partnership is based on a pay-for-value system focused on promoting evidence-based, highly-integrated care, which can lead to improved medical outcomes, a better patient experience and lower costs.

“The Nebraska Health Network was created with the goal to provide affordable, quality health care to our patients,” said James Canedy, MD, President, Nebraska Health Network Board. “Since day one, we have taken steps to ensure greater accountability for clinical outcomes. All our primary care providers have completed certification or are working towards certification to be Patient-Centered Medical Homes that focus on the management of chronic health conditions and serve patients throughout Omaha. This new arrangement with Humana takes our partnership a step further to improve patient experience and further enhance the quality of care.”
