April 1, 2014 - David Kendrick on Oklahoma's Beacon Program

During our April 1st eHealth SIG call, special guest, Dr. David Kendrick, CEO and Founder of MyHealth Access Network provided an overview and update on Oklahoma's Beacon Program and their experiences with implementing a community-wide infrastructure for health IT.  Jeff Halbstein-Harris, an advisor for PCPCC's eHealth SIG, facilitated the call and asked Dr. Kendrick several questions specific to implementation of this program.  Topics covered include:

  • Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Data Sharing
  • Health Information Exchanges (HIE)
  • Utilizing HIE to Meet Pay-For-Performance and Meaningful-Use Requirements
  • Multi-Stakeholder Participation (e.g., patients, payers, providers, etc.)

Speaker Bio: Dr. Kendrick is the CEO & Founder of MyHealth Access Network.  MyHealth is focused on providing advanced health information exchange, community-wide care coordination tools, and a robust decision support platform to help providers deliver high quality care in the face of overwhelming data availability. In addition to leading MyHealth, Dr. Kendrick is an associate professor of internal medicine and pediatrics and the Kaiser Chair of Community Medicine at the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa, School of Community Medicine. He is also the Provost for Strategic Planning and Chief of the Division of Community Medical Informatics for the University's Health Sciences Center.
